Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this article is to explore the main trends, directions, and features of the development of Ukrainian historiography on the modern history of Asian countries in the second half of the 20th and early 21st centuries. The scientific novelty of the article lies in the comprehensive analysis of domestic historiography on the modern history of Asian countries, which allows for tracing its evolution from the Soviet period to the present. The study identifies the main thematic directions of research, methodological approaches, and their transformations in the context of globalization and European integration processes. It determines the impact of external factors (changes in political course, international contacts, academic mobility) on the formation of Ukrainian historiography of Asian countries, the prospects for further research are assessed. The findings of this study can also be used for teaching courses on the modern history of Asia, improving curricula for the specialties 014.3 Secondary Education (History) and 032 History and Archaeology, as well as for the development of textbooks, educational, and methodological materials. Conclusions. Ukrainian historiography on the modern history of Asian countries is developing in the context of global transformations that have occurred in recent decades. Domestic historians study the economic, political, social, and cultural processes in Asian countries, gradually moving away from Eurocentric approaches. An important research direction is the analysis of Ukrainian-Asian relations in an international context. At the same time, several issues remain, such as the insufficient use of Eastern languages and sources, which necessitates further development of scientific infrastructure and the strengthening of international cooperation.
