Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of the study is to analyze the role of the Polish press in covering the events of the Russian-Ukrainian War in the east from July 2014 to January 2015, with an emphasis on its influence on the formation of public opinion in the world. The scientific novelty is that the article is the first attempt to investigate military operations in the east of Ukraine within the framework of the Russian-Ukrainian War through the lens of the Polish press (July 2014 – January 2015). Since the general topic of war research has already been actively developed by historians, specialists in related or related fields of knowledge, we aim to fully introduce a new range of published sources and verified interpretations in many languages, primarily Polish, into the scientific circulation. The article attempts to reveal the policy of aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which began in 2014, through the prism of the Polish press. Polish journalists went to places of active hostilities in the east of Ukraine, interviewed representatives of opposing camps from territories controlled by the Ukrainian authorities and from regions occupied by separatists. On the pages of “Gazeta Wyborcza” and “Tygodnik Powszechny” magazine, the course of military operations in the east of Ukraine during July 2014 – January 2015 is vividly covered. Conclusions. Therefore, in the conditions of large-scale Russian aggression against Ukraine and the development of Ukrainian-Polish cooperation, it is important to show the place and role of events on the pages of the Polish press. To reveal the specifics of the work of Polish war correspondents in Ukraine, to demonstrate the solidarity of the Ukrainian and Polish peoples in the direction of countering Russian disinformation and the invasion of the territory of an independent Ukrainian state.
