Information conflict: a retrospective analysis of World History

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of the article proposed article is to update, based on a retrospective analysis, the problems associated with understanding the importance of information security and protecting one’s own information space for sustainable development and countering modern challenges, in particular hybrid wars, which are widely used for political purposes, various manipulations to achieve an advantage over the enemy, etc. Conclusions. Empirical materials used in writing the article convince us that at the beginning of the 21st century, global threats to humanity related to scientific and technological progress became actualized, which, due to their characteristic features, have an ambiguous impact on socio-political processes in the world and Ukraine. At a certain historical moment, the advantages of this process can be overshadowed by numerous disadvantages. A retrograde, conservative view of these transformations can lead to strong destructive technocratic pressure on man and personality. Therefore, the actualization of these threats will allow the domestic scientific community to more deeply understand the essence of the transformation and minimize negative trends.
