CURRENT STATUS AND RESEARCH PERSPECTIVES OF THE ALL-RUSSIAN PEASANT UNION
Main Article Content
Abstract
Introduction. Тhe article deals with the analysis of modern researches concerning different aspects of formation and functioning of the most popular peasant organization – All-Russian Peasant Union (further A-RPU).
The purpose. The article aims to analyze the current state and prospects of research All-Russian Peasant Union.
Results. The retrospective analysis of the Ukrainian historical studies achievements of the period from 1991 to the present has shown that the formation of a great number of organizations, unions, political parties the social structure of which was not uniform and stable became the main impulse for the diverse researches of the A-RPU history in the restructuring period of our state.
The scholars have solved a number of problems concerning the uniqueness of the A-RPU which, in its existence, was “born” and stopped its activity twice. Particularly, thorough studies and analysis of the documents, A-RPU members’ testimonies, memoirs and publications, periodicals published at that time which shed light on the reconsideration and revaluation of the process of appearance, functioning and “disappearance” of this organization, needed a thorough investigation.
The contemporary period of the A-RPU history research is characterized by the formation of a historically unbiased approach to the study of processes, events, phenomena and historical figures.
Among Ukrainian scholars, who thoroughly and comprehensively investigate the A-RPU, the works by V. Mahas and A. Fedkov are worth mentioning. V. Mahas’s diverse researches in the outlined problems have been completed by defending the PhD thesis, in which based on wide resources and a significant amount of archival materials the A-RPU activity in Ukraine in 1905-1907 was extensively characterized and a systematic analysis of the A-RPU ideology and program was made.
Numerous publications by A. Fedkov have been completed with the writing of a monograph in which the scholar refers the A-RPU to a non-partisan peasant organization, which existed along with peasant Councils, committees and authorized organizational representatives.Fragmentary studies by D. Kudinov, O. Bundak, U. Parkhomenkov, V. Zaruba, etc. that investigate the A-RPU’s historiography and its regional aspects are worth mentioning.
Contemporary history works by Russian scholars, in which different issues connected with the A-RPU activity dominate, are analysed separately. D. Kolesnichenko in her general essay of the A-RPU history has outlined a great problem that needs scientific concern. It is underlined that it was A. Kurenyshev who was the first to show his own view on the reasons for formation and disappearance of A-RPU in 1905 and 1917 focusing on the fact that the nature and the tasks of the organization in those two chronological periods were different.
Russian scholars such as M. Leonov, A. Timofeichev, V. Melnykov, K. Morozov dealt with the different problems of A-RPU activity in separate scientific studios.
Overall, the current state of studying history VSS operation (in chronological framework 1905-1930 gg.) In the territory of Tsarist Russia and Ukraine meet total domestic historiographical situation with all its achievements, problems and shortcomings.
Conclusions. Given the significant achievements of the historians of different generations and countries in the history of VSS, you can outline some prospects more consideration require regional aspects of relations between VSS and political parties; require new thinking plots on the role and impact of individual politicians and party leaders at VSS; VSS impact on changing the attitudes of the peasantry to the various problems of contemporary society; extension of research on the relationship VSS with other political parties and social movements early XX century; personal characteristics executives (social status, change of political party asset management personal preference for a political ideal and solving the agrarian problem); greater attention to issues need to analyze the judgments of locals Farmers Union, in particular, to follow their examples of mental characteristics and socio-cultural orientation Ukrainian peasantry (political behavior, attitudes to political forces and parties to the Peasant Union and its activities); detailed coverage needs VSS activity in Ukraine during the Second Revolution. And, in our opinion, is to implement a comprehensive historiographical analysis of existing research on diverse topics outlined on the period of its formation until now.Article Details
