Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract. The purpose is to publish and analyse documents confirming the membership of Ukrainian Hetman Kyrylo Rozumovskyki in the Royal Academy of Sciences in Berlin and the Royal Society in London. The scientific novelty of this study lies in the fact that previous studies of Kyrylo Rozumovskyi have only mentioned his presidency of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, without referencing his participation in other scientific communities. This study analyses documents that have not previously been used in biographical studies of the Hetman. During the research, an unknown and unpublished starry sky map dedicated to Kyrylo Rozumovskyi was discovered. Conclusions. The discovered archival documents demonstrate Kyrylo Rozumovsky’s authority in European scientific circles, as evidenced by the reasons for his election. Consequently, Rozumovskyi emerges not only as a political figure, but also as a representative of the Ukrainian elite in the 18th-century international scientific community, confirming the participation of Ukrainian individuals in Europe’s intellectual discourse.
