Academic integrity in the professional field of historian

Abstract
Abstract. The purpose of the article is to study the importance of academic integrity as a key element of a historian's professional activity. This includes analyzing its impact on the reliability of historical research, the ethics of working with sources, and the formation of public trust in historical science. The article examines the importance of academic integrity as a key element of a historian's professional activity. The author analyzes its impact on the reliability of historical research, the ethics of working with sources and the formation of public trust in historical science. Particular attention is paid to the problems of plagiarism, data falsification, and the challenges facing historians in the information society. The article also examines how adherence to the principles of integrity contributes to improving the quality of scientific publications and strengthening the reputation of the historical community. The scientific novelty. The scientific novelty lies in the specific focus on the problems of academic integrity in the context of historical science. Although the topic of academic integrity itself is not new, the article analyzes the impact of integrity on the reliability of historical research, highlights the issue of ethics of working with sources and avoiding plagiarism; describes the challenges facing historians in the context of the information society and disinformation. Conclusions. The conclusions of the article focus on the critical importance of academic integrity for the historical profession: integrity is a prerequisite for ensuring the quality and reliability of historical knowledge, adherence to ethical standards is key to combating data falsification and plagiarism, academic integrity helps to strengthen public trust in historians and their work, and the application of integrity principles is a guarantee of the professional reputation of historians.
