Abstract. Introduction. Contemporary historical study opens a wide range of important and at the same time topical trends of special research. Of particular significance among the mis a problem of everyday and professional life ofther uralliterate and agronomists in particularin post-revolutionary period. This issue was exposed in scientific literature over extended period, however was researched poorly and for the most part came under ideological influence.
Purpose. The problem of social-professional life of Ukrainian SSR agronomical workers in NEP period is represented more comprehensively by modern historiography rather than by previous historiographical periods. Either superficially or more substantively it is represented on the pages of article thesis, composite works, encyclopedic editions, dissertational research, summarizing works in agrarian topics. The purpose of the article is to analyze the scientific research problem of agronomists’ professional life and social status during NEP period, to determine main achievements of soviet and contemporary historiography.
Methods. The scientific study of agronomists’ social-professional portrait determined double-sided nature of research. Agronomists are considered on the one hand as intellectuals, and on the other hand they’re viewed as independent professional group. In any case they arouse interest if only because they played fundamental role in society and possessed high social rank.
Results. The results of the research afford ground to assume that agronomists’ professional life and social status of Ukrainian SSR in NEP period was considered in scientific literature in connection with integration or agriculture. Until quite recently the available historical knowledge concerning agronomists’ social face, their professional activity and impact on society, remained insufficient and ideologically distorted. Historiographical analysis reveals short-term nature of the majority of works created in soviet Regime period, nevertheless it does not underestimate their value.In view of the above, a scientific necessityoccursto reconstruct agronomists’ social-professional portrait and their impact on cultural-economical life of the country in NEP period.
